UK opens applications for 2024 Chevening scholarships for Pakistanis

LAHORE: The United Kingdom (UK) has announced its Chevening Scholarships for Pakistanis for this year. Applications for the prestigious Chevening Scholarships are open until November 5.
An informational session was held at the Lahore Press Club with support from the British High Commission, where details about the Chevening Fellowship and the South Asia Journalist Fellowship Program were discussed. The session featured a message from British High Commissioner Jane Marriot.
According to the British High Commission, the scholarship covers all expenses, including tuition fees, flights, visas, accommodation, and living costs in the UK.
Sneha Lala Deputy Head of Communications at the British High Commission, and Rema Sultan, Chevening Communications Officer, provided a comprehensive briefing on the fellowship programmes. They highlighted that Chevening is a global scholarship initiative aimed at empowering emerging leaders by offering them a one-year master’s degree at any UK university.
Lala emphasised that the program provides journalists an opportunity to gain recognition and showcase their work. She underscored the significance of the fellowship.
During the fellowship, participants will receive advanced journalism training at Westminster University in the UK for two months alongside other South Asian fellows. Applications programme fellowships are now being accepted.
The application deadline for the South Asia Journalist Fellowship Program is October 10, and for the Chevening Scholarships, it is November 5. Applicants must have at least seven years of media experience, with no age limit specified, and must demonstrate their practical work in the application.
At the end of the session, Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari and Vice President Shiraz Hasnat thanked the British High Commission officials and announced plans to conduct more sessions aimed at enhancing the professional skills of Lahore’s journalists.
