WEB DESK: Leading religious scholars and spiritual leaders gathered in Lahore on Wednesday for the National Ulema-o-Mashaikh Convention, where they formally voiced their full confidence in the current state policies and the national leadership.
The assembly concluded with a unanimous resolution praising the collaborative efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in steering the country through complex regional challenges.
The convention, attended by prominent figures from various schools of Islamic thought, served as a platform to reinforce national cohesion.
According to Dawn News, speakers highlighted the importance of the “Paigham-e-Pakistan” framework, a comprehensive national narrative against extremism, as the primary guide for maintaining domestic peace.
The scholars emphasized that in an era of heightened geopolitical tension, particularly across the Middle East, the unity between the public, the clergy, and the state institutions remains the bedrock of Pakistan’s sovereignty.
A unified front against misinformation
A significant portion of the session was dedicated to the growing threat of digital propaganda. The scholars issued a stern condemnation of “fake news” and the misuse of social media platforms to incite civil unrest or malign state institutions.
They argued that such misinformation campaigns are designed to weaken the social fabric and distract from the country’s economic and security progress.
In their closing remarks, the Mashaikh urged the youth to remain vigilant against divisive narratives and to uphold the values of tolerance and stability.
By reaffirming their allegiance to the state’s strategic direction, the religious leadership signaled a consolidated front aimed at ensuring long-term internal security and regional harmony.
