University Road flooded as rain lashes Karachi

Heavy rain and thunderstorms hit Karachi; Lahore sees light showers

Karachi experienced significant disruption on University Road after heavy rainfall caused waterlogging, leaving the road submerged in several areas. The accumulation of rainwater created major difficulties for residents trying to commute, with many struggling to reach their destinations on time.

Poor road conditions and inadequate drainage worsened the situation, turning normally busy routes into nearly impassable stretches. Vehicles and pedestrians alike faced challenges navigating through the flooded road, highlighting persistent infrastructure issues in the area.

Commuters reported delays and frustration as travel between different parts of the city became increasingly difficult. Authorities have been urged to address water drainage problems to prevent similar disruptions in the future, especially during the monsoon season.

Authorities take precautionary measures ahead of expected rains

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon stated that the government has made advance arrangements in anticipation of heavy rainfall in Karachi. Leaves of essential staff have been cancelled to ensure readiness, and additional dewatering pumps have been installed in low-lying areas to prevent flooding. Municipal officers have been instructed to remain on high alert throughout the period.

Minister Memon emphasized that protecting citizens is the government’s responsibility and urged residents to follow safety precautions during the rains. In case of emergencies, citizens have been advised to immediately contact relevant authorities to seek assistance.
