Unregistered vehicles to be impounded after May 10, warns minister

KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that unregistered vehicles found on the roads across the province will be impounded after May 10.
Speaking at a news conference in Karachi, he urged motorcycle and car owners to promptly register their unregistered vehicles to avoid impoundment by the excise department starting May 10. The minister revealed that the provincial excise department is gearing up for a crackdown on unregistered cars and vehicles from that date forward.

He highlighted that unregistered vehicles are frequently used in criminal activities and advised citizens to collect their original number plates from the excise department. “Any unregistered vehicle discovered on the road will be seized,” he asserted.
Memon also stressed the importance of monitoring staff in schools and colleges and noted that the Sindh Police have pledged their cooperation in combating drug-related crimes.
Additionally, he mentioned that President Asif Ali Zardari has ordered a stringent crackdown on crime and drug trafficking. Over the past one and a half months, approximately 1,122 FIRs have been filed, and nearly 900 kilograms of heroin have been confiscated in various operations.
