Urgent search launched for Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother amid safety concerns

TUCSON: Authorities are conducting an urgent search for Nancy Guthrie, 84, the mother of NBC “Today” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, who has been reported missing from her home in the Catalina Foothills under concerning circumstances.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her residence near Skyline and Campbell around 9:30 AM local time on Saturday, January 31, with family members calling 911 the next day when she could not be located. Search teams are combing the area by land and air, while homicide detectives are also investigating unusual findings at her home, though foul play has not been confirmed.

Sheriff Nanos described the situation as especially serious due to Nancy Guthrie’s age and mobility limitations, noting that she is a “vulnerable adult” who could be at risk if exposed to cold weather. “We’ve pretty much thrown everything at this as we can,” he said, noting the urgency of the operation.

Guthrie is described as 5-foot-5, 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact 911 immediately.
