WASHINGTON: The United States, in response to Pakistan’s move to expel illegal Afghan refugees, has recognized the country’s role in hosting Afghan nationals.
During a press briefing, State Department spokesperson Vedant Patel commented on Pakistan’s decision, stating, “Pakistan has played a crucial role in the resettlement of Afghan refugees seeking safety and new homes. They have served as a significant transit point in this process, and we’ll leave it at that.”

In response to remarks made by a senior Pakistani official, who claimed that 14 out of 24 suicide bombings in the country this year were carried out by Afghan nationals, the spokesperson remarked, “I have not seen that comment or the specific reporting that may be based on that particular statistic.”
Pakistan’s interim government had ordered all illegal immigrants, including 1.73 million Afghan nationals, to leave the country or face expulsion after revealing that 14 of 24 suicide bombings in the country this year were carried out by Afghan nationals.
