US condemns Iranian strikes in Pakistan, Syria, and Iraq

US calls for restrain in Pakistan protest

WEB DESK: The United States expressed its condemnation on Wednesday for recent Iranian strikes in Pakistan, Iraq, and Syria. Tehran claims these strikes targeted “anti-Iranian terrorist groups.”

State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, in a press briefing, stated, “We do condemn those strikes. We’ve seen Iran violating the borders of three of its neighbours in just the past couple of days.”

Earlier, Pakistan vehemently denounced an Iranian airstrike within its borders, resulting in the tragic deaths of two children. The Pakistani government labelled it an “unprovoked violation of its airspace” and issued a stern warning of potential retaliation.

Iran asserted that it utilised “precision missile and drone strikes” to eliminate two strongholds of the Sunni militant group Jaish al-Adl, known as Jaish al-Dhulm in Iran, situated in the Koh-e-Sabz area of Pakistan’s southwest Balochistan province, according to Iran’s state-aligned Tasnim news agency.

This incident follows Iran’s missile launches in northern Iraq and Syria on Monday, marking a concerning escalation of hostilities in the Middle East.

The region is already grappling with Israel’s ongoing conflict in Gaza, which poses a significant risk of evolving into a broader regional confrontation.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, in response to the attack on its territory, lamented the loss of “two innocent children” and issued a stern warning to Iran regarding “serious consequences.”

The ministry characterised the airstrike as an “unprovoked violation of its airspace by Iran inside Pakistani territory.”
