US denies election interference in India, addressed Sikh citizen’s assassination attempt


US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller strongly stated that the US maintains no involvement in Indian election on Thursday.

WASHINGTON: United States (US) Department of State Spokesperson Matthew Miller strongly reiterated that that the United States maintains no involvement in Indian election while also addressing queries on Indian government’s involvement in assassination attempt of a Sikh on Thursday.

During a press briefing on Thursday, Miller clarified that his country played no role in Indian election or “any other elections” globally.

Meanwhile, in response to the attempted assassination of a Sikh US-citizen by Indian government, Miller acknowledged the incident as a murderous attack and stated that it is a legal matter currently under investigation.

Earlier, the spokesperson had expressed “heartfelt remorse” for victims of terrorists attacks in recent days in Pakistan. Miller also stated that the US was committed in combating terrorism.

He expressed solidarity with Pakistan, acknowledging the losses the country has endured due to terrorist activities.

He also mentioned ongoing discussions with Pakistan regarding immigration and the resettlement of Afghan refugees in the US. Miller talked about the importance of security screening mechanisms.

Miller affirmed the US commitment to addressing concerns and resolving issues in collaboration with the Pakistani government.
