US highlights cooperation with Pakistan on Afghan refugees resettlement


The United States (US) State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller voiced deep concern over the recent arrests of PTI leaders in Pakistan on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON: The Acting United States Deputy Secretary of State, John Bass, expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support in the resettlement of Afghan refugees in the United States.

The news was conveyed through the US Department of State spokesperson Matthew Miller during a press briefing on Monday.

The spokesperson noted that Bass talked about the importance of enhancing cooperation with Pakistan on various fronts, including economic and security issues.

The discussions also covered critical topics such as counter-terrorism efforts and  and the need to combat violent extremism in the region

Miller stated that the US government was committed to work collaboratively with Pakistan on matters related to regional stability and propensity.

The State Department spokesperson talked about the ongoing partnership aims to address shared issues facing the two nations, and promote a secure environment in the region
