Fresh diplomatic talks between the United States and Iran may begin as early as next week in Islamabad, according to a report published by The Wall Street Journal citing sources familiar with the discussions.
The report said both sides are currently coordinating through mediators to draft a brief memorandum of understanding intended to outline the framework for renewed negotiations aimed at easing tensions and ending the ongoing conflict.
According to the newspaper, the proposed document consists of a one-page agreement containing 14 key points that would guide discussions over a month-long negotiation process. The talks are expected to focus on reducing hostilities and addressing disputes surrounding Iran’s nuclear activities and regional security concerns.
While no official confirmation has yet been issued by either Washington or Tehran, the report suggests diplomatic channels remain active despite recent tensions between the two countries.
Pakistan has reportedly been involved in facilitating communication between the two sides as efforts continue to revive dialogue and prevent further escalation in the region.
The potential resumption of negotiations comes amid increasing international pressure for a diplomatic solution following weeks of heightened military and political tensions across the Middle East.
Officials familiar with the matter told the publication that preparations for the talks are still underway, and timelines could change depending on developments in ongoing backchannel discussions.
