ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that the meeting held with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Egypt in Islamabad was positive.
Foreign minister Dar spoke at a press conference after hours-long meeting held with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry (Badr Abdelatty) in attendance.
He said that the meeting reviewed the changing situation in the region, describing discussions with all foreign ministers as positive.
He emphasised that unity of the Muslim Ummah is essential for regional development and that diplomacy received full support from all participants.
Dar warned that ongoing regional tensions are not in anyone’s interest and stressed that the security and sovereignty of all countries must be respected under the UN Charter.
Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Pakistan is playing an active role in promoting regional and global peace.
Efforts are underway to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the United States, with China supporting Pakistan’s constructive role.
Pakistan’s contributions to peace are being widely appreciated, Dar said, adding that the country remains committed to stability in the region. The foreign ministers were also briefed on potential US-Iran negotiations in Islamabad.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with the Saudi Foregin Minister Prince Faisal after the Saudi official participated in a high-level four-way meeting of foreign ministers.
Islamabad is hosting a high-level four-way meeting of foreign ministers from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt to discuss the escalating situation in the Middle East and explore ways to reduce regional tensions.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan arrived in Islamabad earlier today via a special flight and was warmly received at Nur Khan Airbase.
The Turkish and Egyptian foreign ministers had reached the city yesterday. Prior to the four-way talks, Ishaq Dar held separate bilateral meetings with his Turkish and Egyptian counterparts to discuss the region’s tense situation and matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting with Hakan Fidan, Dar emphasised the historically strong and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey, highlighting shared culture, history, and mutual respect.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen cooperation in various fields, reviewed all aspects of bilateral relations, and discussed ways to enhance strategic partnership.
The four-way discussions are focusing on the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, the rising tensions between Iran and the United States, and strategies to ensure regional peace and stability.
Other issues under discussion include the security of energy supplies, protection of maritime routes, and potential humanitarian crises.
Analysts note that Pakistan’s hosting of this summit reflects the proactive role major Muslim countries are playing to prevent a larger regional conflict through diplomatic engagement.
It is expected that the meeting will conclude with a joint statement emphasising an immediate ceasefire, promoting dialogue, and reducing tensions in the region.
