Not so ‘pro’: iPhone 15 fails durability test

Web Desk: Zack Nelson, renowned for his YouTube channel “JerryRigEverything,” where he assesses the durability of various products, recently conducted his signature ‘durability test’ on iPhone 15 Pro Max.

During the durability assessment, various tests were conducted on the new grade 5 titanium, including scratch testing, heating trials, and abrasion with sandpaper. As anticipated, the titanium did exhibit scratches when subjected to a knife. In contrast, the matte back glass displayed significantly higher scratch resistance.

The display held up admirably during the scratch examination, as did the three camera covers located on the rear of the iPhone 15 Pro. However, the evaluation took an intriguing turn from this point onward.

When the tester applied pressure to bend the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the back panel cracked. However, while the glass did crack, it didn’t shatter entirely and retained its overall integrity. This observation highlights a structural vulnerability in the top-tier iPhone 15 model.

“You’ve been watching me durability test smartphones for about 11 years now, and most phones do not break. iPhones especially do not break, like ever. And [the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s] snap was abnormally quick,” said the YouTuber.

“Something is wrong with Apple’s new iPhone 15 Pro max,” the caption of his video read.
