NANO DOGAR, (Reuters): Villagers in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province on Tuesday (July 25) struggled with severe flooding triggered by heavy monsoon rains, submerging fields and homes in the area.

Residents in the village of Nano Dogar have been stranded by surrounding floodwaters and swollen rivers, forcing them to rely on boats for transportation and evacuations. Several residents could be seen moving their livestock from their homes on Tuesday.

According to local weather authorities, monsoon rains are likely to continue during the week, with heavy rain forecasted in Balochistan, upper Sindh and Punjab over the next few days.

Large swathes of the South Asian country were submerged last year due to extremely heavy monsoon rains and melting glaciers, a phenomenon linked to climate change that damaged crops and infrastructure and killed at least 1,700 people.
