Indian batting great Virat Kohli drew admiration for a gracious gesture following the third and final ODI against New Zealand in Indore, where he gifted a signed Indian jersey to Kiwi star Daryl Mitchell after the match.

The exchange took place after an intense contest in which both players delivered standout performances. Kohli, 37, struck a superb century, his 54th in ODI cricket, while Mitchell produced a commanding hundred of his own, earning the Player of the Match award as New Zealand sealed the series.

Despite Kohli’s valiant effort during the chase, India fell short of the target. The hosts were in early trouble at 71 for four, but Kohli steadied the innings with crucial partnerships alongside Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana, once again underlining his class under pressure.

Following the presentation ceremony, Kohli approached Mitchell and handed him a jersey bearing his signature and a personal message, a moment that was captured on video and widely shared on social media. Fans praised the act as a reminder of the spirit of cricket, even amid fierce on-field rivalry.

The gesture carried added significance as both batters are currently locked in a close race for the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings, with Kohli sitting at number one and Mitchell just behind him.

The three-match ODI series ended 2-1 in New Zealand’s favor. India claimed the opening game, but the visitors responded strongly to win the next two encounters and clinch the series.
