Visa issues threaten Ireland tour for Mohammad Amir


LAHORE: The participation of fast bowler Mohammad Amir in the upcoming T20 matches during the Ireland tour is uncertain due to delays in securing his visa.

While the Pakistan men’s national team arrived in Ireland for the series beginning on Friday (tomorrow), Amir is still in Pakistan due to visa delays. If his visa is not approved by Thursday (today), he may only join his teammates in Leeds, England on May 15 for the T20I series.

A spokesperson for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated that the board is actively working with the Irish Cricket Union to resolve the fast bowler’s visa issues.

Visa applications for all players, including Mohammad Amir, were promptly processed ahead of the Ireland tour. However, there was a delay in Amir’s visa approval.

No replacement player has been identified to fill in for Amir in case he is unable to join the national cricket team in Ireland.

The finalized squad for the Ireland men’s team is captained by Paul Stirling, whereas Pakistan’s squad is led by Babar Azam.

Pakistan’s upcoming schedule comprises three T20Is against Ireland, scheduled for May 10, May 12, and May 14 at Clontarf in Dublin Bay.

The will proceed to play a four-match T20I series against England, starting from May 22 at Leeds, followed by matches in Birmingham, Cardiff, and The Oval.
