LAHORE: Social media buzz surrounding that Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz was alleged removal from Aitchison College Founding Day celebrations has been debunked by the institution.

Despite online claims, Aitchison College has set the record straight, denying any such incident.

Speculations surfaced after posts circulated on social media platform ‘X’, alleging that initially Aitchison College invited Maryam Nawaz as the Chief Guest for the event at on March 9th. However, a purported outcry from parents and students purportedly led to her exclusion. Allegedly, Aitchisonians expressed reluctance to receive accolades from the political figure.

Nevertheless, Aitchison College, known for its legacy of academic excellence, dismissed these claims. According to college sources, as cited by senior anchorperson and vlogger Mansoor Ali Khan, there was no truth to the alleged removal of Maryam Nawaz from the guest list.

The institution clarified that an invitation was extended to Maryam Nawaz to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. However, she respectfully declined citing prior commitments, including Women’s Day events and the Presidential election.

Aitchison College emphasized its apolitical stance, highlighting its status as one of the oldest and most esteemed educational establishments. The institution reaffirmed its commitment to academic discipline and asserted that political controversies have no place within its premises.

The clarification from Aitchison College quashes the social media rumors, underscoring the importance of fact-checking and discerning credible sources in the digital age.
