MULTAN: The mother of 15-year-old Waseem Abbas, who was allegedly run over and killed in Multan, has demanded to see footage showing how the suspect accused of killing her son died, saying she would not find peace until she witnessed it with her own eyes.

In a video circulating on social media, the grieving mother repeatedly called for the footage of Tauqeer Nazir’s death, questioning whether he had actually died after reports emerged that he was killed in an alleged encounter with the Crime Control Department (CCD) in Bahawalpur.

“How he made my child writhe and killed him… show me how he died and writhed, how he was dying,” she said in the video.

“What if they are lying to us that he died? My heart won’t find peace. I want to see it with my own eyes, how he was writhing and dying. Only then will my heart find peace.”

The mother also demanded to see the man accused of killing her son, repeatedly drawing a comparison between Waseem’s final moments and the circumstances of the suspect’s reported death.

Her emotional appeal came after CCD said Tauqeer, the principal suspect in Waseem’s killing, was shot dead during an alleged encounter in Bahawalpur on Wednesday, a day after he reportedly escaped from police custody in Multan.

According to a CCD official who spoke on condition of anonymity, Tauqeer escaped from the department’s custody on Tuesday night. The official said a CCD team in Bahawalpur later attempted to stop two men riding a motorcycle, but the riders allegedly opened fire, triggering an exchange of gunfire.

One of the riders was killed and subsequently identified as Tauqeer, while his alleged accomplice escaped, according to the department’s account.

The circumstances surrounding Tauqeer’s reported escape from custody and his subsequent death have not been fully detailed publicly.

Waseem’s death and the murder case

Waseem, an orphaned teenager living at a private orphanage, was allegedly run over by a car in a private housing society in Multan. Police registered a murder case against Tauqeer and another suspect, Amjad Ali, alleging that the vehicle was deliberately driven into the teenager.

According to the first information report (FIR), registered at DHA Police Station on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Liaquat Ali, the car struck Waseem, causing his head to hit a house pillar and resulting in fatal injuries. The FIR further alleged that the suspects attempted to flee after the vehicle failed to restart.

An eyewitness reportedly apprehended Tauqeer at the scene, while the second suspect escaped.

Tauqeer, however, offered a different account in a video that later circulated on social media. He claimed that Waseem had run away from his workplace after refusing to listen to his instructor and alleged that the vehicle slipped while they were attempting to block the teenager’s path. The police FIR treated the incident as an intentional killing.

Post-mortem report details severe injuries

A post-mortem report issued after Waseem’s death documented severe injuries to his head and face. According to the report, his body was brought to Nishtar Hospital at around 8:30pm for examination.

The report stated that his face had been badly disfigured and that he had sustained deep injuries to the left side of his head and face, along with fractures to his skull, jaw and nasal bone. Abrasions were also found on his right knee.

The findings added to the account of the severe trauma Waseem allegedly suffered when he was struck by the vehicle and thrown against a structure.

Teenager had been sent to learn electrical work

The administration of the private orphanage where Waseem lived said he had recently been sent to learn electrical work under contractor Tauqeer.

Waseem’s cousin, Nadeem, who also lived at the orphanage, said the teenager had expressed reluctance about going to the electrician and had said he wanted to return home. According to Nadeem, Waseem had stopped regularly returning to the orphanage after beginning the work.

Waseem’s maternal grandfather had earlier told the media that he had placed the boy in an orphanage and madrassa in the hope that he would receive an education and build a better future.

The family had demanded justice and accountability following the teenager’s death. With Tauqeer now reported killed in the CCD encounter, his mother’s demand to see evidence of the suspect’s death has brought renewed attention to the case and the unresolved questions surrounding the suspect’s escape from custody and subsequent killing.
