WB reaffirms support for Pakistan’s 10-year development program

ISLAMABAD: The World Bank Managing Director, Ms Anna Bjerde, has reaffirmed support for Pakistan’s $20 billion development program to maximise the program’s developmental impact.
The reaffirmation, on Pakistan’s 10-year development plan, came during a meeting held in Saudi Arabia between Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and the managing director.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Annual AlUla Conference for Emerging Market Economies, which focuses on key economic challenges and opportunities faced by emerging markets.
During the meeting, discussions covered the Country Partnership Framework (CPF) and Pakistan’s development priorities, including energy, education, health, climate change, and financial reforms.
The finance minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to close cooperation with the World Bank, assuring full support through relevant federal ministries.
He also said that provincial governments’ cooperation is essential to ensure better coordination and timely implementation of the program.
