ISLAMABAD: Citizens in Islamabad and Peshawar experienced a sudden change in weather as both cities received rainfall accompanied by strong winds and stormy conditions. In the federal capital, authorities remained on the ground and coordinated with traffic police to ensure smooth flow of traffic amid the weather disruption.
In Islamabad, rain began in several areas late Tuesday evening. Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions to ensure safety.
Following the rainfall, a tree fell onto a vehicle on Ibn-e-Sina Road in Sector G10-3 due to strong winds, leaving one person injured. The injured individual was shifted to hospital for medical treatment, while rescue teams later cleared the tree and vehicle from the road, according to Capital Emergency Services.
Meanwhile, Peshawar also witnessed stormy winds that disrupted daily life and caused widespread power outages across the city and surrounding areas. According to a PESCO spokesperson, electricity supply from multiple grids was suspended as more than 200 feeders linked to 12 grids tripped due to the strong winds.
PESCO officials added that power restoration will begin gradually once the intensity of the storm subsides, while emergency teams have been placed on high alert to manage the situation.
