Wednesday weather: cold spell continues nationwide, severe in hilly areas

WEB DESK: Cold and dry weather is set to grip most parts of the country on Wednesday and Thursday, with conditions turning particularly harsh in the hilly and northern regions, according to the latest forecast.

In Islamabad and its surrounding areas, cold and dry weather is expected to prevail on Thursday, while partly cloudy skies may develop during the evening or night. Residents are advised to brace for low temperatures, especially after sunset.

Across Punjab, most districts will experience cold and dry conditions. However, the weather will turn extremely cold in Murree, Galiyat and nearby areas, where temperatures are expected to plunge further. Fog is also likely to form in the early morning hours at a few locations, including Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Sheikhupura and Jhang, potentially affecting visibility and travel.

Sindh is expected to remain under the influence of cold and dry weather in most districts, with no significant rainfall forecast.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, cold and dry conditions will dominate much of the province, while the hilly regions are likely to experience extremely cold weather accompanied by partly cloudy skies.

Balochistan will also see cold and dry weather in most districts. However, the northern parts of the province are expected to face extremely cold conditions, with partly cloudy skies adding to the chill.

Meanwhile, extremely cold and dry weather is likely to persist in Kashmir, while Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to experience extremely cold conditions with partly cloudy skies.

Authorities have advised residents, particularly in mountainous and fog-prone areas, to take precautionary measures as temperatures drop further and visibility may be reduced during the early morning hours.
