Wednesday weather: cold weather to persist across Pakistan, north gets rain

WEB DESK: Cold and dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the country on Wednesday, while very cold conditions are likely to continue in hilly areas, said the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

However, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan may experience partly cloudy skies with rain and snowfall at a few locations. Fog is also likely to develop in parts of Punjab and upper Sindh during the night and early morning hours.

Going region by region, the PMD said that in Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather is forecast to remain cold and partly cloudy.

Across Punjab, most districts are expected to experience cold and dry conditions, while partly cloudy weather is likely in the Pothohar region. Murree, Galiyat and adjoining areas will remain very cold and partly cloudy, with rain and snowfall expected during the evening and night. Fog may form in several districts, including Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khanewal, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanpur and Bahawalpur, particularly during nighttime and early morning hours.

In Sindh, cold and dry weather is expected to continue in most districts. Fog is likely at a few places in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Larkana, Mohenjodaro and Jacobabad during the morning and night.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to see partly cloudy weather, with chances of rain and snowfall accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in Chitral, Swat, Dir, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Buner, Khyber, Bajaur, Kurram and Waziristan. Other districts of the province are likely to remain cold and partly cloudy.

In Balochistan, rain and snowfall with strong winds and thunderstorms are forecast for Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat and Musakhel. Similar weather conditions, including rain and thunderstorms, are also expected in Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai, Turbat, Gwadar, Jiwani, Lasbela, Kech, Awaran, Chagai, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk and Kharan.

Meanwhile, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to experience partly cloudy weather, with rain and snowfall at a few places.
