WEB DESK: Large parts of the country are expected to experience cold and dry weather on Wednesday, with severe cold forecast for hilly regions and fog or smog likely to affect visibility in several plain areas, according to the latest meteorological outlook.

Going region by region, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that in Islamabad and its surrounding areas, the day is expected to remain cold and dry, with temperatures dipping further in the night and early morning.

Across Punjab, most districts will see cold and dry conditions. Murree, Galiyat and adjoining hilly regions are likely to face severe cold. Dense fog or smog is expected during morning and night hours in Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan, Khanewal, Layyah, Kot Addu, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur, potentially disrupting travel.

In Sindh, the weather will stay mostly dry, with colder temperatures during the night and early morning.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa forecast indicates cold and dry conditions across the province, with hilly areas bracing for severe cold. Light to moderate fog may develop in Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, DI Khan and nearby areas during morning and night hours.

Across Balochistan, most regions will remain cold and dry, while northern districts are expected to experience severe cold, particularly in morning and night hours.

In Kashmir, dry and cold weather will prevail, with severe cold anticipated at night and early morning.

Similar conditions are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, where cold and dry weather will dominate, and severe cold is likely during morning and nighttime.

Authorities advise residents, especially in fog-prone areas, to exercise caution while traveling due to low visibility.
