Weekend weather: dense fog, freezing temperatures forecast across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Cold and dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the country on Saturday, with extremely low temperatures forecast for hilly and northern regions. Dense fog is also likely to disrupt visibility in several plain areas, particularly during night and early morning hours.

According to the weather outlook by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moderate to severe fog is expected in parts of Punjab, Upper Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while fog may develop at a few locations in the Pothohar region and Kashmir during the morning.

Going region by region, the PMD said that in Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather is expected to remain cold and dry, with fog likely to form during the night and early morning hours.

Across Punjab, cold and dry conditions will persist in most districts, while Murree, Galiyat and adjoining areas are likely to experience severe cold. Moderate to dense fog is expected in several districts, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Okara, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and other central and southern parts of the province.

In Sindh, cold and dry weather is forecast for most districts, with moderate to severe fog expected in and around Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tando Jam and Mohenjo Daro.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also expected to experience cold and dry conditions, while severe cold will grip the hilly areas. Moderate to heavy fog is likely in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan.

In Balochistan, cold and dry weather is expected to dominate most districts, with extremely cold conditions in the northern parts of the province. However, partly cloudy skies are likely in the southwestern districts during the evening and night.

Meanwhile, extremely cold and dry weather is forecast for both Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, with fog expected at a few places in Kashmir during the morning hours.
