ISLAMABAD: A comprehensive report spanning six pages has been submitted to the Supreme Court regarding the facilities being provided to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief in Attock jail.

The report, submitted by the Attock jail superintendent, has highlighted several facilities being provide to the former prime minister.

According to the report, the blocks in close proximity to the cell of the detainee have been evacuated.

It further disclosed that the PTI chairman receives dietary food, with his breakfast comprising bread, omelet, yogurt, and tea from Monday to Sunday.

The report further says that lunch for the former prime minister entails vegetables, bread, rice, and salad, while dinner consists of lentils, rice, yogurt, and salad.

The report also addresses the detainee’s demands, revealing that twice a week, he is supplied with locally sourced chicken and once with beef, prepared in Desi ghee.

Seasonal fruits are also provided, the report says.

The report also sheds into the recent renovation of the jail cell, which saw the addition of an extra five feet to its wall on August 18.

“The detainee’s cell underwent maintenance as well, with the floor being cemented and a fan installed. Essential utilities, such as a commode, Muslim shower, tissue stand, and shoe rack have been included,” the report says.

It says that security measures have been reinforced with the installation of CCTV cameras to monitor the detainee and staff movements.

Additionally, it says two wireless phones have been assigned to the staff on duty. Notably, stringent protocols have been established during meetings between the detainee and his legal representatives, ensuring heightened security, the report says.

Currently, there are 982 inmates in Attock jail. Prominent figures, including his legal counsel Naeem Haider Panjotha, his wife Bushra Bibi, lawyer Babar Awan and Latif Khosa have held meetings with the PTI chief in jail.

“The PTI chairman’s health is under constant observation, with a panel of five doctors available for regular check-ups,” it said.

“As investigations continue, the prison system has seen improvements aimed at bolstering security, including the appointment of 53 officers from other prisons,” it said.

“For visitation convenience, family meetings have been scheduled for Tuesdays at 2 pm, and legal consultations are allocated for Thursdays,” the report said.

With a growing number of detainees, security enhancements and transparent communication channels are being established to ensure the facility’s smooth operation, the report said.

Seperately, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has resumed proceedings on the PTI Chairman’s appeal against his sentence in the Toshakhana criminal case.

The hearing is being conducted by a division bench comprising IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.

The court instructed Amjad Pervaiz, the lawyer representing the Election Commission, to present arguments. Pervaiz, who had missed the previous hearing due to poor health, was ordered by the chief justice to ensure his presence this time. The court warned that if he didn’t attend, a verdict would be issued based on the available record.

The Chairman’s legal team, including Latif Khosa, Salman Akram Raja, Gohar Ali Khan, Ali Zafar, and Sher Afzal Marwat, is present in the courtroom. His sisters Aleema and Uzma Khan are also in attendance.

Barrister Gohar requested a meeting with his client, and the chief justice stated that the court would announce a verdict on the appeal today.
