What record could Babar Azam break in Test series against Bangladesh?

Babar Azam

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s white-ball captain, Babar Azam, is close to achieving a major milestone in the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

Currently, Babar has accumulated 2,661 runs in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle, and he needs just 339 more runs to cross the 3,000-run threshold. Achieving this would make him only the fifth player globally to reach this milestone.

At present, Babar leads the run charts for Pakistani batters in this World Test Championship cycle. If he reaches 3,000 runs, he will join an elite group of players. Notable names include England’s Joe Root, who tops the list with 4,598 runs from 55 matches, and Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne, who has 3,904 runs from 45 matches. Other players in this exclusive group include Steve Smith with 3,486 runs, Ben Stokes with 3,101 runs, and Usman Khawaja with 2,686 runs.

As Babar gears up for the series against Bangladesh, all eyes will be on him to see if he can hit this milestone and further cement his status among the world’s top Test batsmen.
