WhatsApp is introducing a series of updates designed to make messaging more convenient, including an AI-powered feature that suggests replies based on the context of your conversations. The Meta-owned app is also launching tools for freeing up storage, enhancing photos with Meta AI, and improving chat management.
The most notable addition is an upgrade to the app’s “Writing Help” feature, which first launched in August 2025. Writing Help already allowed users to rephrase messages, check grammar, or adjust tone, but the latest update now offers AI-generated suggestions to help users craft messages with the right phrasing. According to Meta, the feature is meant to help users “get their message just right” without leaving the app. The company emphasises that chats remain private when using Writing Help.
To use the feature, users tap the chat bar, select the stickers icon, and then tap the pencil with sparkles icon to access the AI tools.
Other updates include enhanced storage management: users can now locate and delete large files within individual chats without removing entire conversations. WhatsApp also allows users to selectively clear media while keeping message history intact.
Photo editing has been upgraded with Meta AI, letting users adjust images directly in a chat, removing unwanted objects, changing backgrounds, or applying new styles.
Additional improvements include the ability to transfer chat history from iOS to Android and within the same platform, and iOS users can now log into two WhatsApp accounts simultaneously, a feature already available on Android. Sticker suggestions have also been enhanced, with WhatsApp now offering relevant stickers when users type emojis.
These updates are gradually rolling out and will be available to all users in the coming weeks.
