When will electric buses in Lahore become operational?

LAHORE: Electric buses in Lahore will become operational starting in December, as the Punjab Transport Authority has successfully completed the tender process for their procurement.

A Chinese and Pakistani company has been awarded the tender to manufacture the electric buses, said Punjab Transport Minister  Bilal Akbar Khan.

The company will provide 27 electric buses at a cost of Rs15.5 billion. Along with supplying the buses, the company will also set up charging stations where the buses will be charged, according to the Transport Minister.

The buses will come with an eight-year battery warranty and a ten-year warranty for the bus body and other structural components, according to Bilal Akbar Khan. Additionally, the company will provide free supervision and maintenance services for the first year.

Electric buses will be introduced on a total of five routes, with the initial phase covering the route from the Railway Station to Green Town Hamdard Chowk.
