WEB DESK: Following the demise of Lady Annabel Goldsmith, prominent British socialite, philanthropist, and former mother-in-law of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf founder Imran Khan, her son Zac Goldsmith acknowledged the incarcerated ex PM for his tweet offering condolences.

Zac wrote that his mother adored and respected Khan immensely and that they all are praying for him, hinting at Khan being behind bars since 2023.

On October 21, Imran Khan, in a message from Adiala Jail, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Lady Annabel Goldsmith, describing her as a kind, compassionate woman and a wonderful grandmother to his sons. He recalled staying with her during visits to London and said she became like a mother to him after his own mother’s death in 1985. Calling her passing a profound loss, he extended heartfelt condolences to her family, adding that she would be dearly missed. Khan said he would have attended her funeral with his sons, Sulaiman and Kasim, had he not been imprisoned.

Lady Annabel Goldsmith, born Annabel Vane-Tempest-Stewart in 1934, was a British socialite, philanthropist, and author. The daughter of the 8th Marquess of Londonderry, she rose to prominence in London’s elite circles and inspired the iconic Mayfair nightclub Annabel’s, founded by her first husband, Mark Birley. After their marriage ended, she wed billionaire Sir James Goldsmith, with whom she had three children, including Jemima, Zac, and Ben Goldsmith. Known for her charitable work on environmental and humanitarian causes, she published her memoir Annabel: An Unconventional Life in 2004. Her son Ben Goldsmith described her life as “extraordinary and complete.”
