Why is Mohammed Siraj urging travellers to avoid Air India?

WEB DESK: Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has publicly criticised Air India, advising people not to travel with the national carrier after facing what he described as an “extremely frustrating and disappointing” experience.

In a social media post on Wednesday, Siraj said Air India flight IX 2884, scheduled to depart from Guwahati to Hyderabad at 7:25am, was repeatedly delayed without any prior notice or proper explanation. He claimed that despite passengers asking for updates several times, airline staff failed to provide a clear reason for the disruption.

Siraj said that even after four hours, there was no announcement about the cause of the delay, nor were passengers offered alternative arrangements. “Dozens of travellers were left stranded and distressed at the airport,” he wrote. Calling it his “worst experience” with the carrier, he urged others to avoid booking with Air India.

Following Siraj’s criticism, several social media users echoed his frustration and shared similar grievances about the airline’s service. Many criticised Air India for frequent delays, poor communication, and inadequate customer support. Some also did some hilarious takes as well:

The airline has yet to issue an official response to the cricketer’s remarks, which have quickly gained traction online and intensified scrutiny of its service standards.
