Will not go home without securing Imran’s release: Gandapur

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur swore an oath with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters saying that they would not return home without securing Imran Khan’s release come what may.

Addressing aPTI rally in Swabi, Gandapur said, “I look to you, the people, as you are Imran Khan’s true strength.” He reminded the participants of the sacrifices made by their forefathers to achieve Pakistan’s independence. “Under Imran Khan’s leadership, we will sacrifice to reclaim our freedom, and we endorse his every decision.”

He said that the federal government should know that PTI workers stand firm despite the injustices meted out to their their leader. He said that in November, they would respond to Imran Khan’s call and take to the streets.

“We won’t return to our homes until Khan is freed, even if it means going to jail. We’ll make them remember this,” he said adding “Whatever happens, we will not go back without Khan’s release and our freedom. We are all prepared for this.”

Several other PTI leaders, including PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, Asad Qaiser, Omar Ayub also addressed the rally held at the Motorway Interchange in Swabi.

For the rally, every assembly member from Swabi, Mardan, Nowshera and Peshawar had been tasked with bringing 1,000 workers while members from other districts were asked to bring 500 supporters each.

PTI Information Secretary Waqas Akram Sheikh, said that routes from Punjab had been blocked with containers to prevent people from joining the rally.

Waqas Akram said that “Today, the leadership is present; we’re here to see the public turnout. A resolution will be presented, and the next steps will be announced,” he said.
