ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf held an important meeting of its core committee where it was decided that the party will resist any attempt to impose “rejected groups” on the people of Pakistan who have given their verdict on February 8.
In a statement issued after the core committee meeting, the party said: “On February 8, the people of Pakistan showed their political and democratic strength by voting for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. The people of Pakistan gave Imran Khan an unparalleled certificate of patriotism and rewarded his party with a clear majority. We will resist, at every level, the undemocratic, illegal, non-political and immoral attempts to rob the people’s mandate and hand over Pakistan to the criminals.”
The statement further said: “The shameful power-sharing among the rejected groups is equivalent to trampling the people’s mandate insulting their verdict.
We will chase, both inside and outside the parliament, those who commit the heinous murder of democracy and trample on the sanctity of the people’s vote. Voices are being raised not only from within the country but from all over the world against the insult of the people’s mandate. The criminal role of the election commission, its despicable bias and the lack of transparency in the elections is being questioned by the national-level parties, including Jamaat-i-Islami.”
It said: “The returning officer (ROs) who committed the serious crime of polluting the elections and violating the people’s transparent mandate are the criminals of the nation. The people will hold them accountable.”
The PTI core committee also formed special committees to thrash out strategy for forming governments in the center, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The nominations for key government and parliamentary positions will be completed soon in the light of the recommendations of the committees, the statement said.
