WEB DESK: Authorities in Balochistan and Punjab have announced the schedule for winter holidays in educational institutions, confirming the dates on which schools will close across both provinces.

According to Balochistan’s education department, all public and private schools located in the province’s cold regions will remain closed from 16 December for two and a half months. The extended break is part of the province’s annual winter schedule, implemented to protect students from severe temperatures, snowfall and disruptions caused by harsh weather.

Punjab has also released its winter holiday calendar. Schools across the province will begin their break on 23 December 2025, with the holidays continuing until 11 January 2026. Both public and private schools are set to reopen on 12 January, which will also mark the start of the new academic session.

The announcement comes as weather officials forecast rain and snowfall in several northern and hilly areas in the coming weeks. Authorities say the early notification aims to give parents, students and school administrations ample time to prepare for the seasonal break.

The revised schedules reflect each province’s climate patterns, with Balochistan’s colder districts requiring a significantly longer closure. Meanwhile, Punjab will follow a shorter, standard winter break before resuming classes in mid-January.
