Winter’s chill fails to curb dengue’s spread in Punjab

LAHORE: In the midst of the New Year, Punjab is grappling with a surge in dengue cases, as revealed by the latest reports from the health sector. Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan provided updates on the alarming situation.
Over the past 24 hours, a new case of dengue has been reported in Punjab, adding to the growing tally. The total number of confirmed cases since the beginning of the new year has reached 20, painting a concerning picture of the prevalence of the disease in the region.
Currently, six individuals are undergoing treatment for dengue in hospitals across Punjab. Among them, one is receiving care in a hospital in Lahore, contributing to the city’s rising count of 12 dengue cases for the month.

Faisalabad, too, is not immune to the dengue surge, with the total number of cases reported in the city reaching 2 during this month.
Likewise, Rawalpindi has also witnessed a new case of dengue in the last 24 hours. The total number of dengue patients in Rawalpindi stands at 3 for the month so far.
As health authorities work diligently to contain the outbreak, citizens are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of dengue. The situation is being closely monitored, with efforts focused on providing timely and effective medical care to those affected by the virus.
