Woman abducted by armed militants in Kech’s Balicha area

ISLAMABAD: A woman was abducted by armed militants in the Balicha area of District Kech on Wednesday evening, raising concerns about civilian safety in the region.

According to official sources, the incident took place between 4:30 pm and 4:45 pm when a Corolla vehicle stopped outside a house in Balicha. Armed men reportedly forced a woman, identified as Nargis, into the vehicle at gunpoint before fleeing the scene.

The victim’s husband and nephew attempted to follow the vehicle and intercepted it near the Nasirabad area. During the confrontation, one of the armed men emerged from the car carrying a Kalashnikov, while additional militants arrived on motorcycles. The family members were assaulted, and their mobile phones were confiscated before the abductors escaped.

Police officials stated that the attack was carried out in broad daylight and appeared to be a coordinated operation. The incident has created fear among residents, particularly regarding the safety of women.

Following the abduction, police and security agencies launched a search operation for the recovery of the victim. Authorities said efforts are underway to trace the perpetrators and ensure the safe return of the abducted woman.

Officials condemned the abduction and stated that crimes involving civilians, especially women, threaten public safety and social stability in Balochistan. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
