LAHORE: A woman was allegedly gang-raped after being lured with a promise of a job and later found to have had a kidney removed, police and provincial officials said on Saturday.
The victim, a resident of Lahore’s Chuhng area, was allegedly abducted after being offered a job and later taken to Rawalpindi, where she was confined in a house and subjected to gang rape, the reports said.
During a subsequent medical examination, doctors discovered that her left kidney was missing. It was not immediately clear under what circumstances the organ had been removed.
Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt has taken notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Lahore.
She directed the police to immediately arrest all those involved.
Butt said that those responsible would be brought to justice and that crimes against women would not be tolerated.
She said that the victim would be provided full legal, medical and psychological assistance.
Police did not immediately respond to a request for sharing further details.
