RAWALPINDI: A horrifying incident has come to light in Rawalpindi, where a married woman was allegedly defrauded of jewelry worth millions of rupees and repeatedly sexually assaulted before being forced to consume poison, resulting in her death.
The incident took place in the City Palace, Baba Rahim Shah area, under Gujar Khan police jurisdiction.
According to Express News, the woman was lured and blackmailed by a local jeweler and an employee of a finance bank, who allegedly took her gold jewelry—valued millions of rupees. She was reportedly assaulted multiple times before being poisoned.
After the woman’s death, shocking videos surfaced from her mobile phone, in which she named the accused and revealed that she had been blackmailed by them over loans and high-interest payments.
According to the complainant, Shiraz Aftab, he lived with his parents, wife, and 11-year-old daughter. He said the owner of Talha Jewelers, Adeel, had long-standing relations with their family and over the past four to five years had established a personal connection with his wife.
He explained that on the day of the incident, his wife suddenly fell ill, began vomiting, and revealed that she had been poisoned.
She reportedly asked him to check her phone for videos that contained her revelations about Adeel and his accomplices.
The complainant said his wife disclosed that Adeel had taken gold jewelry from her, valued at around 40 tolas, and handed it over to a man named Musa at the shop, who sold it. She was later taken to Mobi Link Finance Bank, where a bank employee, Jawad, allegedly helped them take loans against her remaining jewelry worth approximately 1.5 crore rupees.
According to the husband, the accused repeatedly threatened his wife and demanded cash, blackmailing her with threats of police involvement. They allegedly assaulted her sexually on multiple occasions and continued to extort money under the pretext of loans and interest.
The complainant said the accused also entered his home during his absence, threatening and blackmailing his wife. He said that his wife endured the assaults silently out of fear for her reputation and marriage.
Video evidence from the victim, recorded while she was critically ill, showed her blaming the accused for her suffering and naming the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, police have arrested the suspects — Adeel, Moosa, and Jawad — in connection with the murder.
Police also sent DNA samples taken from the body of a woman to the forensic lab in Lahore.
According to reports, DNA samples of the suspects will also be sent to the lab next week. Police have obtained a seven-day physical remand of the three arrested suspects.
Suspect Adeel is a goldsmith by profession, while Jawad works at a private bank. A case has been registered against the suspects at the Gujar Khan Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s husband under charges of murder and rape.
