Woman gives birth to baby on stationary Karachi-bound train

KARACHI: A baby was born on board the Rahman Baba Express on Wednesday after the train halted at Dhabeji station due to an engine failure, railway officials said.

Both the mother and newborn are reported to be in stable condition.

The delivery took place in carriage number eight. Railway police head constable Shoaib Raza responded promptly and called doctors to the scene. Onboard doctors provided initial medical assistance, preventing any emergency complications.

Following the birth, the mother was unable to continue the journey. With her family’s consent, the railway police arranged for a Rescue 1122 ambulance to transfer her and the newborn to Korangi Hospital for further care.

Railway authorities said police fully assisted during the incident, and the mother and her family expressed gratitude for their support.

Both mother and child are reported to be in good health and remain under observation at the hospital.
