World Cup qualification: Bosnia’s Demirovic to treat Stuttgart fans after historic World Cup qualification

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s playoff triumph over Italy has left striker Ermedin Demirovic promising a sizable celebration for fans of his club, VfB Stuttgart. The 28-year-old forward had pledged before the playoff that he would buy drinks for supporters if Bosnia secured a World Cup spot, a promise he now intends to honour.

“I’m a man of my word, the drinks are on me,” Demirovic told Sky Sports following the tense shootout victory in Zenica. “It may be expensive, but I’ll do it gladly after an achievement like this. Stuttgart, the pints are coming your way.”

Bosnia will make its second appearance at the World Cup, drawn into Group B alongside co-hosts Canada, Qatar, and Switzerland. Reflecting on the win, Demirovic admitted he was overwhelmed by the moment. “It’s surreal. I’ve lost my voice. We played brilliantly and fully deserve this. What we’ve achieved for our country hasn’t fully sunk in yet.”

The promise to fans could cost Demirovic around €300,000 ($346,380), given that Stuttgart’s MHPArena averages nearly 60,000 attendees per match and beer prices hover around €5 per pint.

Meanwhile, Stuttgart continues its Bundesliga campaign, currently third in the standings, and is set to host second-placed Borussia Dortmund this Saturday, adding domestic excitement to Demirovic’s international celebrations.
