Zahid Ahmed apologises after backlash over ‘hell’ remark about content creators

Zahid Ahmed apology

Popular Pakistani actor Zahid Ahmed has issued a public apology after facing severe backlash for his recent comments about content creators, which sparked widespread criticism across social media.

During a podcast appearance alongside fellow actor Ahmed Ali Akbar, Zahid had remarked that social media was “the work of the devil” and that people producing content on such platforms would “go to hell.” The statement quickly drew anger from influencers and fans, many accusing him of being judgemental and hypocritical.

In a video shared later, the Faryad star clarified that his outburst was not directed at all content creators, but specifically at those who use social media irresponsibly. “My words were emotional and wrong,” he said. “I should never have declared anyone a wrongdoer. Only God has the right to do that.”

Acknowledging his mistake, Zahid added that his apology was important because many young people look up to him for guidance on matters of faith. “I don’t want to mislead anyone. I’ll make sure this never happens again,” he said.

The controversy took another turn when popular influencer Adnan Zafar, known as Ken Doll, accused Zahid of double standards, questioning why he criticised others while being part of the same industry that thrives on public attention.

Despite the uproar, Zahid’s fans praised him for admitting his fault and taking responsibility.

Zahid Ahmed, 41, has been part of several acclaimed television dramas including Besharam, Naimat, Pukaar and Visaal. He is married to Amna Zahid, with whom he shares a warm relationship often seen in his social media posts. In one viral post from 2022, the actor had written a touching birthday message for his wife, saying, “After 11 years, all that really matters is that I never want to be without you.”

His latest apology shows a softer side of the actor who, despite the criticism, continues to be admired for his honesty and willingness to accept his mistakes.
