Zain Qureshi prevented from traveling abroad

zain qureshi constitutional amendment

LAHORE: Zain Qureshi, a prominent figure within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and the son of former international minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, encountered travel restrictions on Thursday, as he was barred from departing the country.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) intervened at Lahore Airport, preventing Qureshi from embarking on his intended journey to Dubai. Despite his presence at the airport, authorities denied him boarding the aircraft.

This incident occurs within the context of a broader situation involving PTI members allegedly linked to the May 9 riots. More than 200 individuals associated with PTI are reported to have been added to the Exit Control List (ECL), a measure taken by authorities to regulate the departure of certain individuals from the country.

Aged 37, Qureshi has a history of political involvement, having previously held the position of Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Finance. He is currently pursuing a seat in the Provincial Assembly of Punjab in the upcoming elections later this year.
