ISLAMABAD: HUM TV’s popular drama Zanjeerain has crossed the 1 billion views milestone on YouTube, marking a major digital achievement for the Pakistani television serial as it continues to dominate conversations among drama viewers.
Around 31 episodes of the drama have been telecast so far, with the serial attracting millions of views on individual episodes and building a substantial following on YouTube.
The milestone highlights the growing popularity of Zanjeerain beyond traditional television audiences, with viewers increasingly turning to digital platforms to watch episodes and follow the unfolding story.
Pakistani dramas have long enjoyed popularity beyond the country, particularly in India and other South Asian countries. Their appeal also extends to North America, where Urdu-speaking audiences, particularly the Pakistani and Indian diaspora, continue to follow Pakistani television serials.
The availability of complete episodes on YouTube has further expanded the international reach of Pakistani dramas, allowing audiences outside the region to watch them conveniently and remain connected with stories, actors and characters.
Written by renowned novelist Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Shahzad Kashmiri, Zanjeerain is produced by Momina Duraid under MD Productions.
The drama features an ensemble cast led by Sajal Aly, Ameer Gilani, Danyal Zafar, Ahsan Khan, Sahar Hashmi and Adnan Siddiqui.
The series revolves around themes of loyalty, revenge, family honour and sacrifice, set against the backdrop of a long-standing tribal conflict. Its storyline, coupled with a strong cast, has helped the drama maintain viewers’ interest since its premiere.
Danyal Zafar wins praise for Sarbuland
While Zanjeerain initially attracted attention because of its star-studded cast and gripping storyline, recent episodes have particularly fuelled appreciation for Danyal Zafar’s performance.
Zafar’s portrayal of “Sarbuland” has emerged as one of the most talked-about elements of the drama, with viewers praising the emotional depth and maturity he has brought to the character.
His performance has generated considerable discussion among fans, with many viewers highlighting the transformation and complexity of Sarbuland as the story progresses.
Sajal Aly, ensemble cast praised
The drama has also continued to receive appreciation for performances across the ensemble.
Sajal Aly has once again drawn praise for her portrayal, further reinforcing her reputation as one of Pakistan’s most accomplished actors.
The supporting cast, meanwhile, has contributed to the depth of the drama’s characters and its portrayal of a world shaped by family loyalties, conflict and tradition.
The combination of a high-profile cast, Farhat Ishtiaq’s storytelling and Shahzad Kashmiri’s direction has helped *Zanjeerain* maintain strong audience engagement.
1 billion YouTube views underline digital reach
Crossing 1 billion views on YouTube represents a significant digital milestone for Zanjeerain and reflects the scale of its online following after only around 31 episodes.
The achievement also highlights the growing role of YouTube in taking Pakistani dramas to international audiences. While the dramas remain hugely popular among viewers in Pakistan, their appeal has extended to India and other South Asian countries, as well as Urdu-speaking communities in North America and elsewhere.
With the drama continuing to generate discussion around its characters and performances, particularly Danyal Zafar’s Sarbuland, Zanjeerain appears to be maintaining its momentum both on television and across digital platforms.
