BULAWAYO: Zimbabwe chased down a competitive 170 with five wickets and 11 balls to spare to clinch the second ZIM vs NAM T20I at Queens Sports Club on Tuesday, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

In the opening T20, Zimbabwe produced a dominant all-round display to defeat Namibia by 33 runs, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

In the second clash, Tadiwanashe Marumani led the way with a composed 36-ball 50, hitting two fours and three sixes to keep Zimbabwe ahead of the required rate.

Brian Bennett gave the hosts a blistering start, smashing 40 off just 20 balls at a strike rate of 200.

After the top order set the platform, Ryan Burl’s unbeaten 24 off 13 balls and Tashinga Musekiwa’s cameo (9* off 4) saw Zimbabwe over the line with ease.

Earlier, Namibia posted 169-6 after being asked to bat first.

Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton top-scored with a rapid 47 off 30 balls, while captain Gerhard Erasmus contributed a brisk 37.

Malan Kruger anchored the innings with 45 off 44, but Zimbabwe’s bowlers struck at regular intervals to keep the total in check.

Richard Ngarava (2-25) and Brad Evans (2-25) were the pick of the bowlers, while Tinotenda Maposa and skipper Sikandar Raza chipped in with one wicket apiece.

For Namibia, JJ Smit took 2-38 and Ruben Trumpelmann removed the dangerous Bennett early, but their bowlers couldn’t stop Zimbabwe’s aggressive batting in the chase.
