170 rape cases reported in Lahore this year: police

LAHORE: A recent report has shed light on a disturbing trend in Lahore, where 170 women have fallen victim to rape in the past seven months.

According to City 42, women under the age of 25 were the primary targets of this heinous crime. The report further revealed that most of the reported incidents took place in the Cantonment and Saddar divisions.

According to police record, the majority of the culprits have not been punished.

Last month, the Human Rights Committee (HRC) disclosed that 268 women fell victim to gang rape in Punjab over the past four years.

According to the HRC convener, Dr Mehreen Razzaq Bhutto, a report submitted by the National Commission Punjab provided data on the incidents of violence against women in the region.

In a horrifying trend, a total of 3,914 women were raped, and 1,026 lost their lives due to gender-based discrimination during the same four-year period.
