Armeena Rana Khan bashes Shaniera Akram for ‘loss of word’ on Gaza crisis

WEB DESK: A fiery exchange of words unfolded on X recently between well-known activist Shaniera Akram and actor Armeena Khan, shedding light on differing perspectives surrounding Gaza genocide.

The heated dispute began when Shaniera took to the social media platform to express her feelings of helplessness brought about by fear, accompanied by a sense of being lost for words. She openly stated her difficulty in articulating her emotions and extended an apology if her words caused offense.

In response to Shaniera’s initial tweet, Armeena called her out, highlighting a perceived inconsistency in her stance. Armeena questioned why Shaniera, who has been vocal about Pakistan, seemed at a loss for words when it came to the situation in Palestine.

In a now-unavailable tweet, Shaniera responded without holding back, “Seriously? With the state of the world and the pain we are seeing daily, you are still throwing hate at me. For what? You don’t know me or what I am dealing with. Whatever we are, we are both mothers; you should be using your voice to promote unity and sisterhood. I think it’s about time you grew up. You are really sinking pretty low for headlines now.”

Armeena Khan has been an outspoken advocate for Palestine, condemning Israel’s actions and human rights violations in its offensive against the region, particularly in the wake of the October 7 Hamas attack.

Most recently, Israel struck an ambulance in Gaza City, which was reportedly evacuating the wounded from the besieged northern part of the territory to the south, further intensifying the ongoing crisis.
