MUMBAI: Indian actor Arshad Warsi has joined the cast of much-anticipated Welcome 3, alongside Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt.
According to the Indian media, Welcome 3, a third installment of the successful 2007 franchise Welcome, is expected to be a large-scale production with a substantial budget.
“The scale of Welcome 3, in terms of its budget and climax, is extraordinary. It is an immensely grand theatrical film in which I will be involved. It features me, Akshay Kumar, Sanju (Sanjay Dutt), Paresh Rawal, and many other talented individuals,” the Munna Bhai MBBS actor said.
The 55-year-old actor also addressed his reduced screen appearances in recent times, attributing it to the evolving landscape of Indian cinema, where superhero films have taken center stage—an idea he finds somewhat peculiar.
The Asur actor said, “I don’t prefer taking on minor roles in these big films. Job satisfaction is crucial to me. While these films offer significant financial gain, I didn’t find the ones I was offered very appealing. However, the film I am currently working on is Welcome 3,”.
Meanwhile no official statement has been released by Firoz Nadiadwala, the producer of the Welcome franchise, regarding the movie’s details. Rumors suggest that Pankaj Tripathi and Mithun Chakraborty may join the cast, while Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar are expected to reprise their original roles.
The Welcome franchise has always been popular among audiences, with the first movie, Welcome (2007), featuring Kumar, Patekar, Rawal, Kapoor, Mallika Sherawat, and Katrina Kaif, being declared an all-time blockbuster. It is still cherished by cinema lovers through social media memes. Welcome Back (2015), the second installment, starred Shruti Hassan, John Abraham, and Sakshi Maggo, replacing Kaif, Kumar, and Sherawat, and emerged as one of the highest-grossing films. Fans eagerly await more details about Welcome 3 as they remain excited about the franchise’s future.
