The false rumour went viral after a Facebook user named Shabana Shaikh shared a garlanded photo of the iconic singer, falsely claiming her death with the caption: “Famous singer Asha Bhosle passed away – a musical era ends (01 July 2025).”

The post quickly gained traction, causing widespread confusion. However, the speculation was soon put to rest by her son Anand Bhosle, who, in a statement to ETimes, dismissed the news as entirely false. “It is untrue,” Anand said, urging people not to believe or share such baseless rumours.
