Atlanta woman returns from holiday to discover her home mistakenly demolished

ATLANTA: A startling incident has unfolded in Atlanta where a homeowner Susan Hodgson returned from her vacation to discover her family residence had been mistakenly demolished in her absence, leaving her with nothing but a mound of debris in its place.

While talking to WAGA-TV, Hodgson reflected the disbelief and frustration she felt upon her return: “I’m just left with a big ol’ mess”.

The bewildering sequence of events began when a concerned neighbour, while Hodgson was away, inquired whether anyone had been hired to demolish the vacant property. To her astonishment, Hodgson responded in the negative, prompting her neighbour to report the distressing development.

Meanwhile, when the neighbour confronted the workers responsible for the demolition, Hodgson disclosed that they reacted with indifference, urging her to “shut up and mind her own business.”

Taking matters into her own hands, Hodgson dispatched a family member to investigate further. The family member inquired about the required permit from the workers, leading to a startling revelation.

“When one of the workers checked the permit, he admitted he was at the wrong address,” said the shocked Hodgson.

Notably, the house was unoccupied at the time of the accidental demolition, as Hodgson clarified, “We keep it boarded, covered, grass cut, and the yard is clean. The taxes are paid, and everything is up on it.”

Despite the shocking turn of events, Hodgson expressed her disappointment at the lack of accountability from the responsible company, stating, “It’s just hard to believe someone thinks they have the right to just come and tear something up and walk away from it and didn’t come back and say ‘I’m sorry. What do I need to do to fix this? It was an accident.’ They didn’t give me anything.”

She continued, “I think he owes us an apology, and he needs to fix the problem.”

However, the company involved has not yet responded to Hodgson’s ordeal. In a statement provided to WAGA-TV, the company has conveyed its commitment to investigating and resolving this unfortunate mishap.
