Woman arrested for selling neighbour’s 5-month-old baby for Rs200,000

5 month old baby kidnapped and sold

LAHORE: In an operation, the local police successfully arrested four individuals involved in the heinous crime of kidnapping and selling a five-month-old child for a sum of Rs200,000.

The key suspect, Asia, who worked as a maid in the victim’s neighbour’s house, stands accused of orchestrating the abduction.

According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation, Dr Anush Masood, Asia kidnapped the child from Tahmina’s residence, her unsuspecting neighbor.

The criminal act unfolded when Asia visited Tahmina’s house, purportedly to leave the child in a bundle of clothes. Instead, she cunningly absconded with the infant and later sold the child to Shehryar and his father Ashraf for the agreed-upon sum.

The arrest was made possible through the diligent efforts of law enforcement, employing modern technology and human intelligence.

Dr Anush Masood highlighted that Asia had fled to Nathoki village after completing the transaction. It was revealed that Asia had an existing association with the accused family, further emphasising the need for thorough investigations into domestic service relationships.

Expressing gratitude for the safe recovery of the child, the family visited SSP Dr Anush Masood’s office to extend their thanks.

In recognition of the exemplary efforts, DIG Investigation Imran Kishor announced certificates of appreciation for the dedicated police team involved in the operation.

This successful operation underscores the crucial role of law enforcement in ensuring the safety and security of the community while also exposing the need for increased vigilance regarding domestic help.

The arrested individuals will face the full force of the law as they are prosecuted for their reprehensible actions.
