BTS popstar Jin hugs 1,000 fans after finishing South Korea military service

SEOUL: Jin, the oldest member of South Korean pop group BTS, hugged 1,000 fans on Thursday (June 13) evening as part of an official appearance at an event post-military service.

Held in Seoul, the fan meeting was part of an annual FESTA event designed to celebrate BTS.

The 31-year-old was discharged from South Korea’s army on Wednesday (June 12) after 18 months of duty, the first member of the group to wrap up mandatory national service that had put their music careers on hold.

The group debuted on June 13, 2013, and has since become the face of K-pop, South Korea’s pop music industry, and one of the country’s largest cultural exports.
