CHITRAL: The pristine landscapes of Garam Chashma and Upper Kalash in the Lower Chitral district were transformed into enchanting winter wonderlands on Thursday as the season’s inaugural snowfall delicately blanketed the picturesque valleys. Simultaneously, the rest of Lower Chitral experienced a substantial downpour, ushering in a refreshing chill to the region.

The magic of snowfall also reached the regions of Shandur, Laspur, and Kot in Upper Chitral, where the snowfall began overnight and continued throughout the day. The meteorological department’s forecast of additional snowfall, set to commence on December 1, has heightened the anticipation of residents who have already geared up with winter attire and lit coal stoves to combat the increasing cold.

Local communities are reveling in the joy brought by the snowfall, especially among the farming community in the area. The precipitation, combining snowfall and torrential rains, has raised hopes for favorable conditions for the wheat crop in both low and upper Chitral districts.

Snowfall halts in Neelam Valley

Meanwhile, in Neelam Valley, the ongoing rain and snowfall have temporarily halted, providing a respite to the region. The iconic tourist spots of Jagran Valley, Udang Keel, Shontar Valley, and Taubat are now adorned with a pristine layer of snow, creating a picturesque landscape.

The Neelam Valley mountains, blanketed by two days of continuous snowfall, present a breathtaking sight, adding to the region’s natural allure. However, the drop in temperature is contributing to the increasing severity of cold in Neelam Valley and upper regions.

Efforts are underway to restore connectivity as the Neelam road connecting roads are being diligently restored, according to Naib Mahmud Shahrat Engineer Asif Asadullah.

The picturesque scenes and seasonal transformations are not only captivating for the residents but are also expected to attract nature enthusiasts and tourists to experience the winter charm of these northern Pakistani valleys.
